✷ What is the Wave?

The Wave is an award-winning podcast company and was founded in 2019 with the goal of helping women share their stories through podcasting. What started as a real estate company providing highly-stylized podcast studio space for women has since become a major online educational hub. The Wave offers free educational resources including over 100 blog posts, YouTube videos, and a weekly newsletter that has amassed a cult following.

In addition to tips and tricks, female podcasters can find support through The Wave’s private Discord-based community. Members ask questions, share experiences, and participate in weekly digital co-working sessions. Their own podcast, Podcast Like a Girl, was released in July 2022 and shares techniques for crafting, producing, and growing a successful podcast.

✷ The Editing Services

Founded in April 2021, The Wave Editing (formerly known as Swell) is a new podcast editing service from The Wave. We pair female audio engineers with female podcasters so they can grow their shows by outsourcing the tedious tasks that prevent many podcast hosts from building their audience.

When we learned that only 5% of all individuals working in audio are women, we knew we needed to challenge the existing production standards and encourage more diversity in the audio industry. That's why we created an editing service where female podcasters could have confidence their voices are being edited only by other women. As a result, we are also creating job demand that will hopefully increase the number of women who want to become trained and work in audio production.

If this sounds kind of revolutionary, that’s because it is. The Wave Editing is the first editing service of its kind. We also do a lot of other novel things like pay our editors a thriving wage.

Lauren Popish started her first podcast in 2017 after a public speaking event gone wrong. As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, start a podcast! Rediscovering her confidence through podcasting encouraged her to share it with other women who were struggling to tell their stories.

Lauren Popish is the founder of The Wave Podcasting. She started podcasting in 2017 after a public speaking blunder that sparked a speaking fear and almost ended her career. She found podcasting to be a safe place to practice speaking and wanted to share it with other women who were struggling to tell their stories.

The Wave now serves more women than ever by providing online educational resources, podcast editing services, and digital community. The Wave launched The Wave Editing, a podcast editing service for women by women, in the spring of 2021.
